Map Work in Geography - 2023-24 Chapter wise
The CBSE modified the Class 10 Social Science Syllabus to make it lighter for students. In the Class 10 Geography book, 6 chapters has a map exercise worth 3 marks. The map exercise for these chapter are following :

Chapter 4 : Agriculture (Identify Only)
- Major areas of Rice Producing - The main rice-producing states are West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Orissa, Bihar and Chhattisgarh.
- Major areas of Wheat Producing - The top five states for wheat production are Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan. Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh together contribute 50% of the total wheat production in the country.
- Largest/ Major producer states of Sugarcane : The top sugarcane producers in India are Uttar Pradesh, followed by Maharashtra and Karnataka. These three states collectively produced about 80% of India's sugarcane production.
- Largest/ Major producer states of Tea : Assam leads in tea production in India, with other significant tea-producing states being West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Meghalaya.
- Largest/ Major producer states of Coffee : Karnataka is the biggest coffee maker in India. Most of the coffee in India comes from the hilly areas in the southern states. Karnataka makes about 71% of the coffee, Kerala makes about 21%, and Tamil Nadu makes about 5%.
- Largest/ Major producer states of Rubber : Kerala produced more than 90% of all the rubber in the country. They have about 5.45 lakh hectares of land where they grow rubber. The other places that grow natural rubber in India are Tamil Nadu and the states in the North East.
- Largest/ Major producer states of Cotton : India is one of the top three countries in the world for producing cotton. When we talk about cotton farming in different Indian states, most of it happens in ten states, grouped into three different farming zones.
- In the North, we have Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan.
- In the Central part, it's Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Madhya Pradesh.
- Down South, we find Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Odisha making cotton.
- Largest/ Major producer states of Jute : West Bengal grows the most jute in India. After West Bengal, Assam and Bihar are the other big places where jute is grown in the country.
